Why? It seems fine as is... wait till this motor blows or something.

1. Buy a V6 and swap that one instead
2. Use the money saved to buy a turbo kit
3. Eat Gallardos and C7s
4. Profit (for state troopers who write you tickets, unfortunately)

That's not REALLY cheap...and it's a perfectly good car. Plus with a $9.5k base, plus a $10k crate engine, without wiring, any suspension work, or any finishing touches, that would be a horrible economic decision. You're already in the 2011+ range there

V6 doesn't have the proper suspension the GT will nor the mounts.

The motor is down to 6k with $1100~electronics and then we can use NTO/Salvage parts on it.

I'd reserve a swap for a real junker. Get a old v6, swap that, and then do all the suspension work to make it handle.

I would think a high milage '06 GT's transmission would get eaten alive by a Coyote motor.

Wiring? Time? It seems hilariously inefficient for not much result.

Those parts aren't going to cost as much as the $$$ gulf between the V8 and V6 cars. Springs + v8 K-member isn't going to be more that $500 used, and the money saved gives you the option to buy aftermarket stuff which will be better anyway. Plus, no GT badging and single exhaust pipe will give you sleeper points.
The very best option is to find an s197 with a trashed engine for far less than $9k. I'd scour craigslist for that if I wasn't so afraid of being murdered...

I don't like the 3V in S197's only in the SN95/New Edge and even then I prefer the 4.6L DOHC freak motor.
